“We post all ANP news items on our website. Whenever possible, we automatically categorize them under local reporting. So a news item about a stabbing incident in Amsterdam can also be found under the category North Holland, Amsterdam. Based on this data, we draw conclusions: which news items resonate with our visitors, how can we learn from this data in order to tailor the website and news content even more to the needs of the visitor. So we consciously do not make any choices ourselves, but base our choices on the behavior of our visitors,” says Liplijn.
“For us, the ANP is a household name, an independent news authority. That piece of quality news was missing on Drimble and we found it at the ANP.
— Luke Liplijn
In addition to the news reports, Drimble also purchases news photography from the ANP. Liplijn: “The combination of image and text creates more curiosity among the visitor. We are more relevant to the user and see that visitors clearly stay longer with a news item if it is supported by catchy news photography. A valuable addition.”
“The speed of news reporting is crucial for us. This applies to the ANP news reports, but also to our 112 messages. It involves seconds: if you are a few seconds later than another news website, you have already lost the visitor.” Since the beginning of this year, Drimble has started posting ANP news. The news content is examined analytically. Liplijn: “We clearly notice that the number of returning visitors has increased since the addition of the ANP news. Time on page has also been increased. We gratefully make use of the journalistic contribution of the ANP, but we continue to evaluate: does it really benefit us? Does our news content make the user of the platform happy? This data allows us to say yes to that.”

At Drimble they continuously improve, adapt and adjust. The company is redeveloping the back end of the Drimble platform into an even smarter locally driven news and information platform where the user experience comes first. Detecting fake news with AI techniques is high on Drimble’s development agenda.
The collaboration with the ANP is also only in its initial phase. Liplijn: “We currently only post news from the main categories on Drimble. For example, we do not yet have news feeds about entertainment & lifestyle and weather. We are quietly exploring what else the ANP has to offer us.
Drimble is a news and information platform with a focus on local news. The platform collects news with smart AI techniques that check more than 7,000 news sources. To distinguish itself and take the platform to a higher level, Drimble recently published the ANP news on its website.
For those who are not familiar with Drimble: it is a hyperlocal information platform where (local) news is collected. Drimble does not employ journalists. The news on the platform is collected using AI techniques by search robots that search more than 7,000 different Dutch-language news and information sources and categorize all the news, making it easy for the visitor to find news from the region and other types of information such as 112. messages, company information and houses for sale. Furthermore, it will soon be possible for visitors to add user-generated content, which is information provided by the visitor himself. This includes local neighborhood photos and news from the area.
Yet something was still missing from Drimble. The quality of the news could be improved, in order to take the platform to a higher level and offer visitors distinctive, premium news content. Luke Liplijn, CEO of Liplijn IG, of which Drimble is part: “We saw a clear difference in levels in the news. For us, the ANP is a household name, an independent news authority with reliable, quality news. That is also why we chose the ANP. That piece of quality news was missing on Drimble and we found it at ANP, which is a very nice addition.”
We focus on informing, inspiring and entertaining people. We are melting our brands togehter in one powerfull data and AI driven search engine: Drimble. Contribute to the growth of organisations and individuals with a focus on Europe. We work every day to create a better informed world – smart, scalable and with a human touch.
